A grandmother telling a story to a child under a ginkgo tree: "When I was a little girl…"

Overview

Chushubao is an AI-powered mobile app that guides people from shaping an initial idea to completing a book. It is designed especially for older adults who want to write their own memoirs.

My Role

New technology can feel intimidating to older adults.

Our goal was to use AI to make book writing more accessible to them. As the AI designer, I focused on refining human–AI interactions to create an experience that helped older adults use technology with confidence.

Research

To create a truly user-friendly app, I analyzed competitors, developed design mock-ups, and examined how mobile device use differs between younger and older adults in their daily lives.

Feature I — 写写 [Xiěxiě]

写写 is the core AI writing feature. It helps users brainstorm, plan, and turn their thoughts into a complete, well-structured book.

Feature II — 聊聊 [Liáoliao]

聊聊 is the core AI conversation feature. It allows users to ask everyday questions, seek emotional support, and express themselves freely, just like talking to a friend.

Testing

To ensure a smooth and reliable experience, I conducted extensive testing to evaluate the AI model’s accuracy, stability, and response quality.

The orange says “I scream whenever I see a spider” and the AI mishears, replying “Ice cream? What flavor?”

Final Reflection

Building Chushubao from 0 to 1 strengthened my technical and collaboration skills. Most importantly, I turned the AI into a unique, 24/7 professional editor.

Chushubao will launch soon, making book writing more accessible to everyone.
